Rotigotine and RLS

Available in the form of a patch that is applied on the skin, rotigotine (Neupro®) is approved to treat restless legs syndrome (RLS) in adults. This medicated patch is applied to the skin once daily. It is approved to help treat moderate-to-severe primary RLS in adults. Rotigotine is not recommended for people who need to sleep during the day and remain awake at night.

Primary RLS means that the cause of the problem cannot be identified. Although rotigotine is not a cure for RLS, it can help relieve many of the symptoms of the condition, such as:

  • Unpleasant sensations in the legs, often described as creeping, crawling, tingling, pulling, or painful
  • An irresistible urge to move the legs
  • Leg discomfort that gets worse when lying down or sitting for long periods of time.
