What Are the Side Effects of Requip for Advanced Parkinson's?
Requip has been studied extensively in clinical trials. In these studies, side effects are always documented. The most common Requip side effects observed in people with advanced Parkinson's disease were as follows:
- Uncontrolled, sudden movements (34 percent)
- Nausea (30 percent)
- Dizziness (26 percent)
- Excessive tiredness, which is known as somnolence (20 percent).
Other common side effects of Requip observed in more than 5 percent of patients were:
- Headache
- Insomnia
- Injury
- Hallucinations
- Falls
- Pain
- Abdominal pain
- Upper respiratory infection
- Confusion
- Increased sweating
- Vomiting
- Viral infection
- Pain in the joints (arthralgia)
- Tremor
- Anxiety
- Urinary tract infection (UTI)
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Loss of memory (amnesia)
- Nervousness
- Dry mouth
- Pain.
Some of the other Requip side effects that occurred in greater than 2 percent but less than 5 percent of patients with advanced Parkinson's disease included:
- Low blood pressure (hypotension)
- Fainting (syncope)
- Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia)
- Weight loss
- Anemia
- Flatulence
- Increased saliva
- Arthritis
- Urinary incontinence
- Abnormal dreaming
- Difficulty breathing (dyspnea)
- Double vision.
