Requip Drug Interactions

Requip^® (ropinirole hydrochloride) potentially has a number of other medicines that it can interact with. Some of these Requip drug interactions include:

Ciprofloxacin (Cipro^®, Cipro XR^®)
Estrogens
Dopamine antagonists, including neuroleptics (phenothiazines, butyrophenones, thioxanthenes) and metoclopramide.

Ciprofloxacin

Taking both ciprofloxacin and Requip together may alter the way in which your body breaks down and gets rid of these medications. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress closely if you are taking both of these drugs.

Estrogens

Taking both estrogen and Requip may alter the way in which your body is meant to metabolize these medications. If you stop or start estrogen therapy while taking Requip, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress closely during this time.

Dopamine Antagonists

Because Requip is a dopamine agonist, taking a dopamine antagonist and Requip may alter the way in which your body breaks down and gets rid of these medications. Before recommending Requip and a dopamine antagonist, your healthcare provider will consider the potential benefits and risks for your particular situation.
