Mirapex Drug Interactions (Cont.)

Alcohol
You should avoid alcohol while taking Mirapex. Combining the two can increase the risk of falling asleep during the day without warning, which can be serious, especially if you are driving or operating heavy machinery.

Antipsychotics
Antipsychotic medications can make Mirapex less effective. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Cimetidine (Tagamet)
Cimetidine can affect the way your kidneys remove Mirapex from the body, possibly increasing the levels of Mirapex in your blood and increasing your risk of Mirapex side effects. Do not use these medications together without your healthcare provider's approval and supervision.

Diltiazem
Diltiazem can affect the way your kidneys remove Mirapex from the body, possibly increasing the levels of Mirapex in your blood and increasing your risk of Mirapex side effects. Do not use these medications together without your healthcare provider's approval and supervision.

Medications That Contain Levodopa
Levodopa is one of the most commonly used medications for treating Parkinson's disease. Many (if not most) people who take Mirapex with levodopa will need a lower dosage of levodopa, especially if levodopa side effects develop or become worse. Make sure your healthcare provider takes this into consideration.

Metoclopramide (Reglan)
Metoclopramide can make Mirapex less effective. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Quinidine
